Creativity Jijiji: "Conversations about creativity"
This podcast amplifies the voices of our true leaders—the artists. Writers, composers, producers, singers, actors, and poets show us new ways to see ourselves and the world around us. They illuminate the invisible threads that connect us, revealing the deep ties of our shared humanity.
At a time when we must come together as citizens of a small and fragile planet, the voices of artists matter more than ever.
Creativity Jijiji goes beyond the spotlight to explore the mysteries of creativity—where it comes from, why it moves us, and how it shapes our world.
Join us as we listen, learn, and celebrate the creative minds guiding us into the future.

Day Three: The Gift of Curiosity
What if one small question could change the way you see the day ahead? Day three of our audio advent unwraps curiosity as a living, breathing gift—something you can choose, practice, and carry into each corner of your life. We explore how a gentle tug to look closer becomes the spark behind invention, melody, and story, and why the most daring creative moves often begin with a what-if that feels just a little scary.
Together, we trade certainty for experiment and show how curiosity banishes the mundane. From swapping your usual breakfast to walking one block farther than planned, we share simple prompts that turn routine into an invitation to wonder. You’ll hear street-level stories—like stumbling upon a hidden museum—that prove serendipity is less about luck and more about the lens you bring to ordinary places. Along the way, we talk about choosing the question that stretches you just enough, and how these tiny acts compound into a path, then a way of being.
This conversation is a companion for creatives, storytellers, and anyone stuck on autopilot. You’ll learn a practical daily practice: ask one real question and let it lead you. Whether you’re shaping a character, designing a product, or planning your morning, this simple habit opens new vistas and gives momentum without demanding perfect answers. Wander long enough, and you’ll wander into wonder.
Subscribe to walk with us through the full audio advent, share your boldest what-if, and leave a review to help others find the show. If today’s question led you somewhere unexpected, tell us where it took you.
Thanks for listening.
Welcome to Creativity Jiji, the audio advent calendar.
CHRIS :This is Chris, and I am here with Patty. Patty, Chris and Patty. And we're here to do our audio advent calendar. Every day during advent for 24 days, we open up a new little window on our audio advent calendar. And today we are at day three.
Patty:And each day we unwrap one of the gifts we were born with, the ones we forget as we grow. Our gift today is curiosity.
CHRIS :Ooh, curiosity.
Patty:That gentle tug inside that says, look a little closer.
CHRIS :Curiosity is the start of every creative act. Alright? I mean every invention, every melody, every character in a story, from the shape of a pottery bars to the arches in a cathedral, they all begin with one question. I think personally it's the most important question in life, but it's certainly the most important question for storytelling, which is what if? What if? You know? What do you think?
Patty:I'm down with that.
CHRIS :I just can't think of anything. I mean, it's it's ultimately every great story. You know, I watch a lot of stories. I love stories, I love watching streaming these stories, and uh you know, I always imagine the writer is just going, what if? And you look for what if, and you pick the what if that scares you the most, and that's the what if to use. It's kind of like the way I feel about it. Um curiosity doesn't really demand certainty, right? I mean, you don't have to know. Uh you kind of want to just like say, like, you know, what if um um I walked into this wall.
Patty:Alright, out.
CHRIS :You know? Uh you don't have to know what the answer to that is. You just kind of walk into the wall and see what happens, you know. It invites invention and it refuses to let the world stay ordinary. Okay? That's key, you know? So if you wake up one morning and you have the blaz, you know, a good thing to do at that point might be to say, you know, what if, you know, I decide I'm gonna take the day off and and go for a long walk down to the harbor, along the lake, or down to a museum? What if you I did something like that instead of the day I had planned, you know? So what if like bans the mundane from your from your life, you know? What if I wore a purple shirt instead of a brown shirt, you know? And uh if you follow your curiosity even an inch, even a pause in your thinking, just a little bit, life will open up and new vistas will peek in. Um and right over the horizon, you will wander into wonder. You know, like what if I walk down this block and you walk down the block, we've done that, and uh then we find this incredible museum.
Patty:Right?
CHRIS :That's what happened to us. Remember once we found that museum?
Patty:Oh yes, the Rightwood Museum. Yeah, the Rightwood Museum. And when we were in New York City, every day was an adventure walking down a street. Same here in Chicago. It's just um be curious as you walk down the street. Notice things that you haven't noticed before, you know. Put a put a question in your head. What if I looked at this walk in a whole different light?
CHRIS :Now, I actually have have kind of followed this my whole life, you know. I mean, wandering and getting lost is my my superpower, I think I really do. And if you follow that that idea of curiosity and you follow it for years and you make it the center of your life, it becomes a path, and then it becomes a way of being, and then it becomes a life filled with new things and unexpected journeys. And I think that kind of describes my crazy life, you know. Um I just uh had a lot of unexpected journeys, let's just say that. What do you think about that?
Patty:I I'm in agreement. My life works much better when I when I'm open to uh um curiosity and the what if, you know, because we can get ourselves stuck. So when we find ourselves stuck, we could just take a step back, take a deep breath, and ask, what if this could be very different? Yeah.
CHRIS :So today's gift. Today's we open the little audio advent calendar, and today's gift is, oh, curiosity, curiosity. So the invitation of today's gift is this. Ask one real question today and let it lead you, okay? Uh, you know, ask, you know, what happens if I have uh something for breakfast that I've never had before? You know, uh an Asian breakfast as a poor stuff, a Western breakfast, or ask, you know, suppose I go another block on this walk and just see what I find. And I this is uh this is a pro tip for me. Sometimes when you have that in your head and and you walk down that block and you you have your expectations raised and your curiosity raised, you will find something special down that block for yourself. I really believe that.
