Creativity Jijiji: "Conversations about creativity"
This podcast amplifies the voices of our true leaders—the artists. Writers, composers, producers, singers, actors, and poets show us new ways to see ourselves and the world around us. They illuminate the invisible threads that connect us, revealing the deep ties of our shared humanity.
At a time when we must come together as citizens of a small and fragile planet, the voices of artists matter more than ever.
Creativity Jijiji goes beyond the spotlight to explore the mysteries of creativity—where it comes from, why it moves us, and how it shapes our world.
Join us as we listen, learn, and celebrate the creative minds guiding us into the future.

Day One: The Gift of Attention
The first window opens not with chocolate, but with a spark: attention. We kick off our audio advent calendar by reclaiming the simple act that powers every idea, every brushstroke, every lyric and insight. In a world that trains us to rush, we make the case for slowing down long enough to actually see, hear, and feel what is present—and to let the world whisper back.
We reflect on the way children catch everything adults miss: ants on the sidewalk, rabbits in the clouds, the tiny dramas that make a day feel alive. Then we map that childlike noticing onto creative practice. Artists are expert noticers; they linger on a slant of light, a half-heard line of dialogue, a crack in the cup that suggests a story. By studying how they give attention, we uncover a practical method for anyone: widen your aperture, follow what tugs at you, and let those details shape your work.
From there, we look at identity. What you pay attention to, consistently and honestly, reveals who you are. Your tastes, your values, your emotional weather—they surface in the details you select and the meanings you assign. When you honor those signals, your ideas become specific and alive; when you ignore them, your work blurs. We close with a grounded invitation: notice one thing today you usually overlook. Give it a full breath, name what you see, and write it down. It’s a small act with outsized effects, building a quiet reservoir of images, lines, and sensations you can draw from tomorrow.
Join us as we trade speed for presence and give this first gift to ourselves. If this journey speaks to you, subscribe, share with a friend who needs a pause, and leave a short review so others can find their way to the next window.
Thanks for listening.
Hey, welcome to Creativity Gigi, the audio advent calendar.
Chris:Welcome. I'm Chris. I'm Patty. And we're gonna do something here today where every day for the next 24 days, we are going to um open a little window, which is the little gift like you have on your advent calendars at home. You know, like you put on the wall, right? Do you ever do that as a kid?
Patty:Um, actually, no. Oh, you did? I didn't get that opportunity. But hey, uh, this is exciting for me then.
Chris:The idea is, I think it's like a pagan idea. The idea is that every day an advent represents a new gift. Okay, so we're doing an audio advent calendar.
Patty:So each day we unwrap one of the gifts we were born with, the ones we forget as we grow. And so today's gift is simple, powerful, and deeply human. Attention.
Chris:Attention, attention. Today's gift is attention. Okay, that's a big one to me, because I'm not so great at attention. Creativity doesn't begin with talent, it starts with attention. The ability to truly see, to hear, to feel. Look, most of us are trained to live fast, especially today with our little phones. Scroll fast. Most of us are trained to live fast, right? We live in a fast world. But to give something attention is different, don't you think? Mm-hmm.
Patty:To give something your full attention.
Chris:Yeah, right. Attention says to me, you should slow down. Something here matters. Look, just take your time. Look. Look. You know what I think about kids? I I think about kids when I think about this. You know, have you noticed, like kids, when you're a kid, you notice everything, right?
Patty:Most kids, not all kids, but most kids.
Chris:Oh, I think kids. I mean, look, if there's ants going across the sidewalk, kids are gonna go like, Mom, dad, ants going across the sidewalk. I love that stuff. Or the look at the clouds. True.
Patty:The bunny rabbits shaped in cloud as clouds.
Chris:Somewhere along the way, we stop looking. We get lost in the worlds we build in our heads, you know, and we forget the worlds we live in. I think you agree with that, right? I mean, people get lost in their heads.
Patty:Oh my gosh, heck yeah. Life beats it out of you. Though it's rare, and there are people who keep it and they become artists and all kinds of awesome, awesome creative adventures. And some people are creative in their accounting and have their things. But as a general overarching theme, I think we really lose it in society as you supposedly have to grow up.
Chris:So we're gonna take today's lesson, today's gift from artists. Um, you know, creativity to we talk about artists a lot. And uh I think that what artists do is that they notice things. I I really do think. I think that that's part of it. An artist naturally gives attention to something. They'll stop and they'll go, like, hey, look at that, look at that, you know, and then they'll take it and they'll make that a piece of their art, or they'll listen to a piece of dialogue and put that into their novel. I mean, they pay attention to the things around them. It's important because the way you see um matters, you know, the way you feel about what you see matters. It really matters. And if you pay attention to it, the first thing you learn is what matters to you, which is important because your perspective is unique, right? That is what you're going for in life. At least that's the way I see it. It's uh who you are, how you see things is who you are. So if you pay attention to what you're paying attention to, you learn things about yourself. Does that make sense to you?
Patty:Yeah, it does.
Chris:Yeah, all right. So please pay attention to things. Attention is where every idea begins. I love that. Attention is where every idea begins, it's where the world whispers. Stop, come closer, breathe. So today's gift, attention. And the invitation of the gift is notice one thing today you usually ignore.
Patty:Thank you for being with us here today. Take one moment to notice someone or something, honestly from your heart. Yeah. That's how the light finds us and how the angels remind us. We are not walking alone. Beautiful. So we'll see you tomorrow. Follow the song lines. And if this journey is speaking to you, please subscribe to our podcast.
